Stereophonics have announced plans to play Cardiff City Stadium next summer.

The band will play a one-off homecoming show at the Welsh capital’s football stadium on June 4, 2016. Tickets go on sale at 10am tomorrow on Thursday (November 26).

GettyBefore that, the band are due to embark on a UK arena tour next month.

The first gig will be in Bournemouth on December 2 with a Manchester date following on December 4. Stereophonics will also perform two nights at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena on December 12 and 13 before a gig at London’s O2 Arena concludes the tour on December 16.

Newcastle, Metro Radio Arena (December 6)
Glasgow, SSE Hydro (December 9)
Birmingham, Genting Arena (December 11)

London, The O2 (December 16)

Earlier this year, frontman Kelly Jones joked that they are too carnivorous to ever cover a song by The Smiths. He said: “We eat too much meat. We got meat onstage, we can’t do it, [Morrissey] won’t like it.”

The Welsh band recently earned their sixth Number One album with ‘Keep The Village Alive’ beating off competition from The Libertines and Bring Me The Horizon. The four-piece self-released the record – their ninth in total – making it the second self-released album to top the chart this year, along with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, who reached Number One in February with second album ‘Chasing Yesterday’.
