Craig David has suggested that Drake is open to a collaboration between the pair, hinting that a joint mixtape could be on the way.
The garage MC recently made his long-awaited return to music with ‘When The Bassline Drops’, a collaboration with Big Narstie.
Speaking to BBC Radio 1Xtra, David revealed that he recently met Toronto rapper Drake and that the pair shared the mutual love of each other’s work.
“When I saw Drake in this restaurant, we walked up to each other and there was this moment. I was like, ‘Oh man [‘Hotline Bling’] is all I’m listening to.’ And he was like, ‘Man I need to call my producer, if I can tell him right now that I’m with you, ‘Born To Do It’! The tunes you have.’ And this was kicking off.”
Quizzed about a possible collaboration, David continued: “When the time is right, when it’s really right, and there’s the Craig David/Drake mixtape, I promise you, not on a ‘Get gas, beg a man to be on his record’ kind of thing, because he’s the hottest thing right now. But he’d easily be like, ‘Yeah man I want to do that.’”
Craig David has also revealed that he is working with the likes of Diplo and Chase & Status on new music.
Drake, meanwhile, has stated that he wants to work with Adele.
