Coldplay have added a fourth date at Wembley Stadium to their 2016 UK tour.
The band will play a fourth gig at the London stadium on June 15. This is in addition to previously sold out gigs on June 16, 18 and 19. Tickets for the new date are on sale on Friday (December 11) at 10am.
The tour is the band’s first in three years and follows the release of new album ‘A Head Full Of Dreams’. Wembley Stadium holds between 90,000 to 105,000 people per night for concerts.
Frontman Chris Martin has said ahead of the tour: “I think that not going on tour with [2014 album] ‘Ghost Stories’ was one of the best decisions we ever made, because it gave us such pent-up energy in the studio and completely reignited everyone’s desire to go around the world and play music. ‘A Head Full Of Dreams’ was written as a record to be performed live. We can’t wait to do that.”
‘A Head Full Of Dreams’ was released last week (December 4) via Parlophone/Atlantic and features guest cameos from Beyonce, Noel Gallagher and Tove Lo. It is currently going head to head with Adele’s ’25’ for the Number One spot in the Official UK Album Chart.
Coldplay will play the following live dates:
Manchester Etihad Stadium (June 4, 5)
Glasgow Hampden Park (June 7)
London Wembley Stadium (June 15, 16,18, 19)
In addition to their world tour, 2016 will also see Coldplay perform live at the Super Bowl half-time show.
